Tobyhanna Tower is one of the Lackawanna Railroad's beautiful, classic concrete towers, built in 1910. It controlled the mainline crossovers and the wye, used for turning helper engines in the days of steam. According to William Sheppard's book "Schematic Track Diagrams of the Erie Lackawanna Railway", the interlocking at Tobyhannawas controlled by the Scranton dispatcher's office in 1975, so presumably the tower was closed by then.
Rumor has it that the tower may be restored, as the station was. Let's hope that rumor is true!
